Delight

Delight in what is right in front of you. Waking to the promise of a new day. Spending time with a wonderful friend. Indulging in a thoughtfully cooked meal. Hiking through an old growth forest. Accomplishing a goal or finishing a project. Creating something beautiful. So many ways to find delight in every day. Mother Nature offers an ongoing panorama of delightful events. Take advantage. Get outdoors. Breathe in the wonder of the natural world, if even for a few minutes every day. Delight in being alive.

Yoga Pose: Triangle Pose Trikonasana

Find delight in doing a familiar and expanding pose.

Foundation. Start in Tadasana - Mountain Pose. Set your intention.

Stance. Step your feet about 4 feet apart. Turn your right foot out 90 degrees. Turn your back toes slightly to the right. Press your outer left heel firmly to the ground. Keep your legs straight without locking your knees.

Arms. Lift and expand your arms to shoulder height. Palms down.

Torso. Exhale and extend your torso to the right directly over your right leg, bending from your hip joint, not your waist. Anchor this movement by strengthening your left leg. Rotate your torso to the left, keeping the two sides of your torso equally long. Let your left hip come slightly forward and lengthen your tailbone toward your back heel. Extend your right hand down towards your ankle and stretch your left arm - with fingers spread apart - toward the sky.

Gaze. Soften your jaw and eyes. Keep your head in a neutral position or turn it to the left, eyes gazing softly at your left thumb.

Timing. Stay in this pose for several breaths. Inhale to come out of the pose, strongly pressing your back heel to the ground and reaching your top arm to the sky. Release your arms down and bring your feet to parallel.
