"My high-spirited nature draws others in."
Yoga Pose: Eagle Pose Garudasana
A pose that combines strength, flexibility and balance, and offers respect for the natural high-spirits of eagles.
Foundation. Start in Tadasana (Mountain Pose). Set your intention.
Move. On an exhalation, slightly bend your knees.
Arms. Lift your arms out to the sides and then swing them down so that your left arm crosses over your right arm above your elbows. Then wrap your forearms around (twisting them together). Hook your hands as best you can. Keep your elbows almost parallel with your shoulders. Spread your left fingers and stretch your fingertips toward the sky, as your right fingers hook the left hand.
Legs. Shift your weight to your right leg, deepening the bend in your right knee. Lift your left leg up with the knee bent to about a 90 degree angle. Cross your left thigh over your right thigh. Then wrap your left foot around your right lower leg (twisting them together). Hook your foot against your right calf as best you can. Balance. Breathe. Keep your spine long.
Gaze. Soften your gaze and look slightly upward. Hold for several breaths. Exhale to come out of the pose by unhooking your hands and releasing your arms down, as you unhook your legs. Maintain your balance on one leg before returning to Tadasana - Mountain Pose.
