Thrive

To THRIVE is to flourish, grow vigorously, succeed. Shed the shackles and uncertainties of what is holding you back from reaching your goals, and give yourself the space, support, focus, determination and freedom to achieve your wildest dreams. Whether it is to make a beautiful quilt, hike the Grand Teton or write an intriguing novel, take the first step. The journey of a thousand miles must start somewhere and sometime. Why wait?

Yoga Pose: Three Legged Downward Dog Eka Pada Adho Mukha Svanasana

Express your free spirit with this classic forward fold/inversion pose. Have fun with it!

Foundation. Begin in High Plank. Set your intention.

Move. Inhale and lift your hips up and back as you extend your arms into Downward Facing Dog. Shift your weight to your right leg as you lift your left leg towards the sky. Keep your knee straight. Firmly extend your left heel to engage your whole leg.

Torso. Let your heart center expand towards the ground, while keeping your spine long. Lengthen both sides of the torso equally. Engage the shoulder blades against the back of the rib cage.

Arms. As your arms are extended, draw your elbows towards the mid-line of the body. Slightly rotate your arms so that your elbow creases start to face forward. Keep a softness in the elbows so that you do not hyper-extend them. Press your hands firmly into the ground. Draw your shoulders away from your ears to create space.

Gaze. Soften your jaw and eyes. Gaze slightly forward. Stay for 30 seconds or longer. To come out of the pose, exhale, lower the left leg and return to Downward Facing Dog.
